Which logic analyzer
Each Logic comes with everything you need: test lead set s , test clips, USB cable, and carry case. Digital Sample Rate max. All data is streamed in real time over USB.
The maximum sample rates depends on the number of digital and analog channels used. Analog Sample Rate max. Logic 8. Maximum sample rate for three 3 digital and zero 0 analog channels in use. Maximum sample rate for two 2 analog and zero 0 digital channels in use. View spec. Logic Pro 8. Maximum sample rate for six 6 digital and zero 0 analog channels in use. Maximum sample rate for five 5 analog and zero 0 digital channels in use. USB 3. Also works with USB 2. Logic Pro Debug hardware like the pros.

Metal Finishing The machined enclosure is cleaned and then textured with a light glass bead blast to give it a uniform, elegant look.
Dual-Use Inputs and Signal Integrity To provide optimal signal integrity with a flying lead test probe, each input has a dedicated ground wire. Anti-aliasing Filters An anti-aliasing filter prevents frequencies higher than the Nyquist frequency from being sampled.
Over 20, embedded developers actively use Logic every month. Tech Specs Inputs. A logic analyser is used for verifying and debugging the operation of digital designs looking a logic states and timings. Typical logic analyser applications: Correlate a large number of digital signals Investigate the system operation. Detect timing violations Trace embedded software operation. Oscilloscope is used for measuring analogue waveforms: amplitude, phase values, or edge measurements such as rise times, etc.
Typical oscilloscope applications: Investigating waveform shapes, ringing, rise time, etc. Measure signal amplitudes. Characterise aspects like waveform jitter and stability. Detect transients, and unwanted pulses. Logic analyser types Although development of these test instruments is on-going and new variants are constantly being launched and many technology innovations are being achieved, there are some main categories into which most logic analyzers can be split:.
The main use for logic analyzers is to look at digital signals. They were a particularly attractive and useful test instrument many years ago when complicated digital systems were made using many different ICs.
It was possible to gain access to the various test points and it was possible to debug the wide busses and IO. Now with much higher levels of integration this is not always possible because there are more embedded devices using System On a Chip, SOC designs, and access to the required test points is not achievable. Despite this there are still many potential measurements for a logic analyzer, particularly for use with the many board computer systems like the Arduino, Raspberry Pi and many others.
Using a logic analyzer it is possible to time correlate a large number of signals on a single display. Two main things seem to be important. First, the bandwidth and second the sample rate. I found this write up trying to explain it, but I failed to comprehend.
So let me ask it in a typical newbie style The fastest microcontroller I use is the ESP What sample rate is required to adequately handle the fastest signal that comes out of that? Gyro Super Contributor Posts: Country:. You may have your financial priorities the wrong way round. If it doesn't meet your speed needs, then nothing much lost. It should be fast enough for general comms with sensors, protocol decoding etc. Reserve the remainder of your money for a scope of some description, maybe a used analogue, maybe a USB one.
Many problems with communication are caused by signal integrity issues, noise, dodgy logic levels etc. At the same time, it gives you have a useful instrument for general debugging. The topic has been discussed quite a few times here. However then there's the question whether the LA will store the sampled data in RAM which limits amount of data it can capture or if it transfers the data through USB where the USB bandwidth limits the amount of data that can be transferred.
So my typical recommendation at this point would be to look out for a DSLogic Plus. Trying is the first step towards failure - Homer J.
Thanks for the pointer, Gyro. A good friend keeps telling me to get a scope too, yet stubbornly I refuse to listen and focus on the realm I understand: digital. I have secretly been looking at second-hand ads too, but have so far not found anything of interest Dutchman, living in Bangkok. I appreciate the suggestion that issues often stem from poor signal rather than signal content. I understand that. What a super helpful response, 0xdeadbeef. Thank you for that.
And my apologies for not first searching the forum. Thank you for taking the time to write that all up. Thanks again! Quote from: robdejonge on October 27, , am. Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span".
But you can buy span". Having fun doing more, with less. Wimberleytech Super Contributor Posts: Country:. I am an analog guy. I bought the Saleae 8 channel analyzer and it saved my butt. The software has crashed sever times using it Linux. The SPI decoder seems to be broken and does not show the data that is actually sent. I was using it to look at the commands sent to the slave device and never saw those hex commands.
I am going to look at a little more. Need Help? Mountain Time: Shopping Cart 0 items. Product Menu. Today's Deals Forum Desktop Site. All Categories. Development Single Board Comp. Three channels not working about 2 years ago by Member verified purchaser Received my logic analyzer yesterday and checked it out this morning using PulseView to read PWM signals from my Teensy. CF replied on May 21, It sounds like you received a defective unit! Cheap useful logic analyzer about 2 years ago by Member verified purchaser Very much plug and play.
Actually pretty good about a year ago by denbo68 verified purchaser I own a number of Saleae logic analyzers and wanted to try this out for kids to use to learn and debug I2C, Serial, SPI, etc Amazing Value! Works good, but drivers are a hassle!
Great little tool about 10 months ago by Member verified purchaser I've used this to look at I2C signals from my Arduino.
