Flat earth chips where to buy
#|
Carolyn: I'm sure Frito-Lay meant its new natural foods "Flat Earth" brand name and flying pig logo to seem unconventional and clever. Fruit and vegetable snack chips ARE unconventional, all right. After trying these chips, however, they also seem as wrongheaded as the original flat-earthers and as impossible as flying pigs. The best of the savory Flat Earth varieties i. The worst is the Farmland Cheddar because of its lack of promised cheese flavor no wonder, considering that it contains more pumpkin than cheddar.
Frito-Lay's failure with these is particularly surprising, considering how long delicious Terra vegetable chips have been around. If Frito-Lay couldn't best those, why not just copy them? The fruit Flat Earths are just plain weird, especially the Wild Berry. The Apple Cinnamon Grove chips taste like they were soaked in juice. Sorry flat-earthers, but potato chips just weren't meant to be this sweet.
Only the Peach Mango Paradise is at all palatable, mainly because its sweetness is tempered by spicy heat. Bonnie: Where did Robin Hood live? How many strings are on a ukulele? What does the word "Madonna" mean in Italian?
It's true: Kellogg's has printed game questions onto the frosting of these sugary snacks. That makes these pretty good food for the brain but not so good for the body. These have almost identical nutritionals to regular Strawberry Pop-Tarts and, like just about all the flavors, are chock-full of additives and sugars.
An even bigger problem for parents will be keeping the kids from opening all the packets at once to answer the questions. The answers to the above ones, for those who are wondering, are in order Sherwood forest, four and my lady.
Carolyn: Kellogg's is using the technology that allows bakers to put photographs on birthday cakes to put Trivial Pursuit questions and illustrations on frosted Pop-Tarts. As you can tell from the ones Bonnie just mentioned, the questions are not likely to help anyone get a 2, on their SATs, especially not if they cheat which is easy to do, considering that the answers are upside-down on the same side of the tart.
But Trivial Pursuit is fairly benign compared to the other possible uses for this technology — company cafeteria wrap sandwiches emblazed with entreaties to "Get back to work" or McDonald's hamburger buns suggesting that "It's not too late to get fries with this," to give two nightmarish for-instances. Tropicana Fruit Squeeze. Bonnie: "Water with zing," said the press materials.
That is, until I took a sip and the horrid aftertaste of artificial sweeteners kicked in. I recommend my Tropicana juice drink or plain water over these artificially colored and sweetened Fruit Squeezes any day. Carolyn: Tropicana is trying to give some more-natural competition to the wildly popular Propel and Vitaminwater flavored and nutritionally enhanced waters.
Although Tropicana Fruit Squeeze is the only one of these fruit-flavored waters to contain real fruit juice, there's not enough in here to lend a good strong fruit taste or any vitamins. Likewise, Tropicana Fruit Squeeze contains enough artificial sweetener to annoy those who live simply like Bonnie , but not enough to maximize its calorie savings for dieters Squeeze's 40 calories per bottle is double Propel's, for instance.
I'll stick with Propel for its great taste and bonus vitamins. If Tropicana really wants to create a water for juice lovers, it would have been better off following Bonnie's formula also, incidentally, the formula of cheap moms everywhere of juice diluted with water.
The taste reminded me a lot of Sun Chips, though the texture and appearance were quite different, as these lacked the wide ripples and rough surface that Sun Chips have. These also had a stronger cheddar flavor than even the Harvest Cheddar flavor of Sun Chips. Our tasters liked these a lot, as many of them grabbed a good-size handful of chips and even came back for more. Shop: Buy Frito-Lay snacks on Amazon ad.
